For over a 100 years ASME has certified companies in the industrial sector to build pressure vessels and components that observe the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (B&PV Code). The ASME B&PV Code establishes rules governing the design, fabrication, and inspection of boilers and pressure vessels, during construction. The ASME certification mark is regarded as the hallmark of acceptance and certification and is used to signify that a stamped item conforms to the latest edition of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Codes.
Every three years Thielsch Engineering, Inc. undergoes an extensive audit of our ASME Quality Control System implementation to receive reauthorization of our ASME PP, S, and U Stamps and our National Board R Stamp. The PP Stamp is our authorization for the fabrication and assembly of pressure piping both at our manufacturing facility and in the field. The S Stamp is our approval to manufacture and assemble power boilers both at our manufacturing facility and in the field. The U Stamp authorizes us to manufacture pressure vessels, by the applicable rules of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Section VIII Division 1. With this stamp, we are authorized to manufacture pressure vessels both at our facility in Cranston, Rhode Island and in the field. The National Board R Stamp permits us to perform metallic repairs and alterations of pressure vessels, at our Rhode Island facility or in the field.
The re-authorization audit takes place before the expiration of the current certificates. For Thielsch Engineering this meant the audit occurred shortly before the 2016 Christmas holidays. Bruce Maclure, the Senior QA Manager at Thielsch Engineering, Inc., was our audit representative. Bruce has overseen our ASME audits for almost 30 years and is extensively involved in design, fabrication and welding activities at Thielsch Engineering, Inc.
Thielsch Engineering Renews ASME PP, S and U Stamps and National Board R (Repair) Stamp Certification For over a 100 years ASME has certified companies in the industrial sector to build pressure vessels and components that observe the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (B&PV Code). It is a common practice to receive the “R” stamp concurrently with any ASME Certificate, as the requirements coincide, and the review process can be performed simultaneously. To attain the PP and R stamps, Questtec has appointed OneCIS, a subsidiary of BVQI as their Authorized Inspector (AI), which is the first step in the process.
The Management at Thielsch Engineering, Inc. would like to congratulate our engineering and manufacturing teams for continuing to implement our ASME Quality System correctly and for passing yet another triennial audit without deficiencies. We at Thielsch Engineering, Inc. consider ourselves to be Industry Experts in Pressure Technologies. As experienced engineering and manufacturing personnel performing ASME Code Stamped design and fabrication services, we utilize processes that reduce risk and achieve the lowest total cost of ownership for our customers. Trouble free audit activities reflect the quality and robustness of ongoing processes and activities at Thielsch Engineering, Inc. Asme Pp Stamp Scope
For more than 100 years, ASME standards and related product certifications have formed an interlocking system based on:
- Safety Standards: A set of requirements developed by volunteer technical experts using an open and transparent consensus process.
- Product Certifications: A program built upon the safety standards wherein the quality systems of a manufacturer are assessed and certified based on the manufacturer's demonstrated ability to meet the requirements of an ASME standard.
- Certification Mark: A mark used by certified companies that is placed upon manufactured items. The symbol is designed to provide users with a high degree of confidence that the stamped items conform to established safety standards
The Standards & Certification process may involve independent, third-party inspection during the process, uniform qualification of inspectors, and acceptance by government entities. It is the common understanding and confidence and trust in this system that has enabled regulated equipment built in one jurisdiction to be readily accepted for installation in another.
